Difficulty in managing peak demand and supply.
Limited visibility into energy consumption patterns.
Inefficient billing and payment systems.
TASK
PROBLEM STATEMENT: Many homes and businesses with solar panels make extra energy, but they don't have a good way to sell it or buy it. They can't easily trade energy with the government grid (Discoms) or consumers to reduce their electricity bills or earn credits. Current solutions for peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading are complicated, expensive, and limited. As a result, extra energy often goes to waste, and consumers miss out on saving money.

Solutions:
We created a platform called PowerXchange. It's a way for people to buy and sell extra solar energy directly with their neighbors or with the government grid (Discoms). The platform makes it easy to trade energy, and you can use regular money, like rupees.
How It Works:
Users register and connect their solar panels to the platform.
Extra energy is listed for sale, either to nearby consumers or to the Discom grid.
Consumers buy energy at lower rates than traditional electricity providers.
Prosumers are act both producing & consuming energy based on demand.
Grid integration allows users to sell energy to Discoms, reducing bills through net metering or direct payouts.
Real-time tracking ensures smooth transactions and fair pricing.

1. P2P Trading (Direct Trading between Buyers and Sellers)
In P2P Trading, users buy and sell energy directly with each other, without any middleman. For example, if Ram has extra energy to sell at ₹8/kWh and Sita wants to buy energy at the same price, PowerXchange connects them directly and the transaction is complete. The money goes straight into Ram's wallet, and Sita gets the energy.
Benefits of P2P Trading:
- Direct deal between buyer and seller
- Fast transaction
- No middleman
- Dynamic pricing, where buyers and sellers set their own prices
2. Order Book Trading (Market-like System)
In Order Book Trading, users place orders to buy or sell energy at a specific price, and when a matching order is found, the trade is automatic. For example, if Ram places an order to sell energy at ₹8/kWh and Sita places an order to buy energy at ₹7/kWh, the trade will happen when someone else is willing to buy at ₹8/kWh or Sita is willing to pay ₹8/kWh.
Benefits of Order Book Trading:
- Users can set their own orders in advance
- Market-like system, where the best price is determined
- Opportunity to buy at a low price and sell at a high price
- Large transactions become easier
